Greetings from Ann Pearce, Lewis Pearce and Amanda Halliwell. We are 'The SJP Tribute Fund' and are helping to raise funds and awareness on behalf of The Motor Neurone Disease Association.
Since the sad and sudden passing of Stephen Joseph Pearce in November 2006 we have felt passionate about helping and supporting other people suffering with this currently incurable and degenerative disease. In our opinion this disease is more widespread than statistics show and deserves more help, funding and attention than it currently receives.
The Motor Neurone Disease Association relies on fundraisers and charity donations, as it receives little government funding. These funds are used not only to support people currently suffering with this disease but for research. Without research a cure will never be found.
Steve was a loving husband to Ann and father to Mark and Lewis. Steve spent 30 years (all his working life) in the sports trade. Spending his latter years as Head of Merchandising at M & M Direct. He was previously Head of Buying at Terry Warner Sports in Gloucestershire before a brief spell at Patrick UK.
Steve was a true ambassador for all the companies he worked for and for the trade in general, he was a great man in every respect, a true gentleman. Steve was well known for his dry sense of humour and ‘Half Glass Empty’ comments. Steve’s knowledge of the sports scene and products was immense.
Sadly this cruel relentless disease was a fight he was unable to win. At 46 Steve was diagnosed with MND in September 2006, he was told that given his age and otherwise general good health that he could expect 2 to 5 years. Steve died just 8 weeks later! He will be missed by all and never forgotten.
